Is HelloFresh Worth the Hype?

After seeing a ridiculous amount of adverts for HelloFresh everywhere, including sponsored videos from my favourite YouTubers, I caved in and decided to give it a go πŸ˜…. All I can say is this was definitely an eye-opening experience.

What is HelloFresh?

HelloFresh is basically a meal subscription company, that sends you ingredients as well as recipes for different meals to make in the comfort of your home. The great thing about HelloFresh is you can pick different meals depending on your diet. Not to mention you can customise the quantity depending on how many people live with you.

In my case, I decided to pick 4 meals per week for 2 people. I did this because 2 people are the lowest meal sizes they offer and as I was buying this for myself It made the most sense. In the case of the 4 meals, this is the medium option as you can go lower to 3 meals or equally go higher and purchase 5 meals. I chose this one as I didn’t have the budget for 5 meals and 3 meals are frankly not enough in my opinion.

  • Chilli Beef Burrito Bowl with Rice
  • Honey Mustard Glazed Pork with Mash, Sauteed Leeks and Cabbage
  • Caramelised Onion Sausage Traybake with Buttery Sauce
  • Mexican Style Beef Loaded Wedges with Cheddar Cheese and Spring Onions

Some of the meals I cooked

Ok, so now you know what HelloFresh is and why I bought it. Let’s answer the question…

Is HelloFresh Worth the Hype?

Overall it’s 80% no but also 20% yes.

In other words, HelloFresh will never entirely replace my weekly food shop because I can buy waaay more stuff, from the supermarket, with the same amount of money I spent on this. It cost me around Β£40 for 4 meals. This is equivalent to me buying ingredients for breakfast, lunch/dinner, snacks, toiletries and household items like washing up liquid from my local Lidl or even Tesco.

Also, the ingredients for one of my meals didn’t even come, which made things worse πŸ˜‘

However, with that being said, HelloFresh was a fun and insightful experience. Cooking, as well as chilling at home, became enjoyable. Because I was excited to see how each meal would turn out. And honestly, all I can say is I ate WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

Moreover, HelloFresh has encouraged me to utilise Google and all the cooking channels I am subscribed to on YouTube. As there are a plethora of wonderful, tasty and easy recipes for me to create at home. And by actually recreating these meals means I save money too! I realised I yearned less for takeaway when using HelloFresh because there was actually food at home that was fire πŸ”₯

Final Thoughts

Even though HelloFresh isn’t worth the money, in my opinion, it has really changed my perspective of the home-cooked meals I created. Plus has encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone and try new recipes as overall I’m a talented, cook if I say so myself 😎😜
